Mobile (Point-in-Time) Testing

HCNA LDS Trailer Unit

The mobile HCNA-LDS trailer unit is designed for situations in which the entire system is not available for daily testing or the infrastructure does not allow for an automated solution.

Everything required to conduct an HCNA-LDS tightness test is mounted within the mobile trailer. This includes: a jockey pump, connection hoses, pressure transmitter, data interface, the control and evaluation unit, laptop computer, as well as an optional trailer mounted fuel holding tank for test segment pressurization / depressurization and an optional power generator.

Sections are tested individually. The testing time takes about 30-45 minutes and performs to the same accuracy as the permanently installed system. All electrical components associated with the skid are explosion-proof (Class I, Div I). The easy-to-operate trailer unit is independent from the local infrastructure during the tests. Fuel quality is guaranteed by the fact that all metal parts are made of stainless steel and the system is inerted with nitrogen after it has been used and drained.

HCNA LDS Suitcase

The Suitcase HCNA-LDS is designed to optimize mobility and rapid response to the customer’s request to conduct leak detection testing anywhere in the world. The system to be tested can be pressurized and depressurized by existing equipment (e.g. existing main pumps, truck, bowser, etc.). The separation valves are opened/closed either manually or automatically. One pressure transmitter connection and one leak simulation connection per section to be tested are required.

An existing High Point valve is usually used to connect a 1½” or 2’’ standard coupler with a T-unit, to connect the pressure transmitter and a 3/4“ ball valve for leak simulation. The evaluation unit consists of a notebook and a data interface module. The pressure transmitter is either permanently installed or is part of the evaluation unit and is connected temporarily for the time of testing. This T unit can be permanently installed for ease of subsequent testing depending on the configuration of the fuel system being tested (e.g., at the fuel farm, in an isolation valve pit, etc.)

The Suitcase HCNA-LDS requires a one-time calibration on site and thereafter can be run whenever required (e.g. quarterly, annually, or upon suspicion). This service is especially designed to minimize investment costs and to allow the customer to check their system immediately upon request or on a regular interval.

Additionally, for more complex remote fueling locations, the HCNA-LDS S-Quad is a self-contained portable unit that provides important flexibility by including required equipment to enable efficient testing at multiple locations. Minimal local assistance is required and there is limited operational impact during testing.
